UPCOMING EVENTS 2008

Designing Continuously Blooming Perennial Gardens
This popular workshop introduces the design tool Lee developed for making
flower beds that bloom all season without relying on annuals. The technique
was featured in the February 2004 issue of Fine Gardening magazine and
will be released in book form by Storey Publishing in late 2008. All proceeds
(minus handout costs) for this workshop will benefit the historic Farnsworth
Victorian Garden, which Lee and her crew completely redesigned and
replanted in 2002. Registration is limited, so please sign up early. Bring a
bag lunch and measurements of a garden bed to work on during the

Japanese Gardens, Ancient and Modern
Japanese gardens first appeared at least 1,700 years ago and have evolved
greatly over time. Throughout the ages, though, the Japanese garden has
always been remarkable for its sensitive arrangement of elements which
produce a sublime simplicity. This talk and slide show, illustrated with
striking photos from Lee's travels throughout Japan, traces the evolution of
Japanese gardens from the ancient to the avant-garde creations of the
twentieth century.
